Solano Cellars is a boutique wine shop located in Albany, CA, just north of Berkeley. The store was founded in 1978 by Bill and Jane Easton, making it one of the oldest wine shops still in operation in the Bay Area. Bill & Jane left the business in the 1990’s to found their Sierra Foothills wineries, Easton and Domaine de la Terre Rouge.
The current team running Solano Cellars — and its sister stores, Vintage Berkeley www.vintageberkeley.com — have carried the torch for the past 15 years. In that time they have developed a loyal following with a continued focus on discovering emerging wineries, championing the classics, and creating an environment where wine can be enjoyed by everyone.
The physical store features a large selection of wines from around the world with a particular focus on hard-to-find California offerings. A welcoming wine bar is nestled away upstairs and serves a seasonal menu of artisan cheese and pate, paired with an ever changing selection of wines by the glass and flights. The Wine Bar also hosts regular wine classes, wine and food pairing dinners and visiting winemakers from around the world.
